Miss G-Tel Face of Zimbabwe, Nadine Hahn (centre), and her princesses. Last week saw the staging of this year’s Miss G-Tel Face of Zimbabwe won by Nadine Hann . Since landing the crown, Nadine has been over the moon and ready to take on the world.

Arts Correspondent Brenda Phiri caught up with the newly crowned beauty queen for a one-on-one chat and she let us in her world. Now at the peak of her career, it is clear that she has come a long way but the battle is not over yet. In a couple of months, she will be in Europe representing Zimbabwe.

Tell us briefly, who is Nadine?
She is outgoing, determined, strong-headed and focused on the things that matter most in life, that is family and the less fortunate. I’m down to earth and easy to talk to. Also a true friend to many.

When and where you born?
Harare, at the Avenues Clinic.

So you have been in Harare all your life? Where did you go to school?
I did my primary education in Bulawayo at Masiyephambili Primary School and for my high school; it was home tuition from Form One to Four.

So professionally, how far have you gone?
When I finished my Ordinary Levels, I am thankful that NMB Bank gave me a platform to do banking and marketing. I have been doing that since August last year until the first of December this year.

So you have abandoned the banking sector?
Working at the bank made me realise that I would want to further my knowledge in marketing and continue on a higher level. I hope one day, I will open my own company.

So back to modelling, how did it all start?
From the age of 15, most of the encouragement came from people around me as they were fascinated by my height and I had what it takes to be a model. I only started to take it seriously when I was 17 because I had grown up and I knew that I wanted to try it out.

Tell us about your first attempt at modelling and other pageants you have entered.
I have modelled for Fashion Week a couple of times for friends with clothing lines. In total, I have entered three pageants — Miss Teen Zimbabwe 2010 and I took the title, the second one was the Elite Model Look Zimbabwe where I made it to the second round then my recent achievement as the Face of Zimbabwe.

What’s next after Miss G-Tel?
After Miss G-Tel, internationally I would like to take part in the Top Model of the World or Miss Universe pageants.

So we understand you will be invading Poland at the Miss Super National, are you looking forward to that?
Yes, I will be working hand in hand with the G-Tel team and everyone involved in the preparations making sure I am ready to bring home the crown.

Since assuming the new title, how has your life changed?
I have to admit that I am a lot busy and loving it. I have a lot planned so my life is going to change drastically in the coming months. I am happy that I have this opportunity once again.

What activities should we expect to see you taking part in during your reign?
A lot of charity events and appearances. We are currently working on a timetable for the year.

All the best in your reign.
Thank you.
